Logan and Michael celebrated their 1st birthday today. They woke up from their morning nap to find lots of balloons, presents, and a cake that had tons of icing! They were so excited to see everyone and had fun eating cake for the first time. Their new tricks of the week are waving hi and clapping. Logan also learned how to say Mama this week. They were a little cautious about the cake but seemed to like it once they got a taste. They completely wore themselves out after their sugar high and went right back down for their afternoon nap after playing with some of their new toys! Tonight Brian and I are going to let them have a little taste of pizza. What could be a better birthday...cake, pizza, presents, friends, and the final four basketball games!
As you can see, they were too busy talking to each other to smile for the camera!
These were their 1st b'day invites:):)

For their birthday, I also made a video of pictures taken throughout their first year. Below is the video that I made...it is about 9 minutes long so it takes a while to watch.

Fun in the sun!
This will be a long post!!! I have A LOT of new pictures from our Palm Springs trip. We had a great vacation and the boys had so much fun being outside all the time. They turned ONE this past Friday and will get to celebrate their birthday with everyone next weekend when we have their first birthday party. I was amazed at how good the boys did on the LONG plane ride. They were very content napping, eating cheerios, or watching a movie. This is a picture of them watching Baby Einstein on the plane. (you can click on the picture to make it bigger)
The boys were so happy to be outside. We took them shopping and out to lunch our first day there. They have discovered grilled cheese....so as long as they can eat that they are very happy being out in a restaurant.
They were so curious about everything outside...the grass, flowers, and especially the birds.
Aunt Kristy and I getting ready to take the boys out to dinner. They made excellent dinner dates:):)
This was part of the running path I did everyday....3.5 miles up the mountain and 3.5 miles down (my favorite part). Mom and Kristy took the boys for a 4 mile walk everyday so that I could go for a run.
Naptime by the pool. The boys loved swimming in the pool and I loved it because it really wore them out. They would take 2 hour naps while out at the pool!
Michael and Logan loved swimming with Mommy and Aunt Kristy. These floats were great for them. Kristy and I pushed them around and let them kick and splash. They laughed so much in the pool and liked to watch other kids swimming around them. I can't believe how observant they are!
On Logan and Michael's birthday we had a nice day at the pool and then Aunt Kristy and I took them out for a birthday dinner. They were very happy sitting outside and eating their crackers. Next weekend they will get to have their first piece of cake when we have their birthday party. They are very patient in waiting a whole week to celebrate their birthday with their family. We didn't get to spend much time with Grandpa on vacation because he was so busy working, but we wanted to thank him for letting us tag along with him on his trip:):)
Michael
Logan
The boys have changed a lot in the past few weeks. Michael is trying to stand on his own and Logan can "run" while pushing around his hippo walker. Michael said Mama for the first time yesterday and he has not stopped saying it! He crawls around after me saying mama mama mama. It's so cute:) They both can say Dada and Baba, and Logan loves to scream! He has figured out that a high pitched scream will get any one's attention. Logan likes to walk along anything...walls, furniture, toys.....Brian and I call him Spiderman:):) I think they both will be walking on their own in the next few months. I have not decided if that will make it easier or harder for me. They are getting pretty heavy to carry both of them around all the time. They are also really starting to look more alike. Sometimes I even get them mixed up! They both are out going and love to be around people. They smiled at everyone while on vacation. I can't tell who is going to be more aggressive...they both seem to take their turns. They are still pulling hair, biting, and shoving each other out of the way. Michael always has to be touching Logan....and sometimes Logan gets fed up with him. He can definitely fend for himself even though he is smaller. I can't believe they are one! I feel like they have grown up a lot in the past month. We are excited for summer, long walks outside, and lots of swimming time:):) Look for birthday party pictures in the next post! I can't wait to see them eat birthday cake:):)

We've come a long way baby!
So....I have been working on something neat for the boy's first birthday party and I have been digging through a lot of old video and pictures. I came across this video clip of us getting ready to leave the hospital. I had just gotten the boys dressed and the nurse was there to help us get everything to the car. The boys were so tiny...4 and 5 pounds. As you can see, they didn't quite fit their preemie clothes.

Double Trouble!
Michael
Logan
Michael and Logan turned 11 months old this past weekend! I can't believe they are almost a year old. They spent most of last week with both of their Grandmas while Brian and I were in Florida. I got to tag along on Brian's business trip and spent my days running, hanging out at the pool, and going out to dinner with Brian. We had a great time and also celebrated my 30th b'day while we were there. (A little better than the b'day last year when I was put on bedrest!!!) We went to Universal Studios for a day where Brian talked me into competing in "Fear Factor Live" with him. I only made it through the first challenge where we had to hang from a bar 40 feet in the air, but Brian almost made it to the end.
The boys are now trying to "walk" along the furniture. They can make it from toy to toy and then back to the couch. It's funny how they figure that stuff out together. At this point, I don't know who is going to be more trouble:):) Logan tends to be a little more adventurous while Michael is more serious, but they both can have their moments! They are pretty equal in skills right now and are doing all the same things...including getting lots of new teeth and using them to bite each other....a bad habit we are trying to break! They are still about 3 pounds different in weight. Logan is 19 pounds and Michael is 22 pounds. The pictures are of them in their Thing 1 and Thing 2 t-shirts that Brian and I got for them at Universal Studios. Just a few more weeks til their first b'day and big trip to Palm Springs. They hope Aunt Kristy is ready to play in the pool all day! Thanks Grandmas for babysitting so we could go on our trip!

16 inches of snow!
Our backyard looks like a winter wonderland!
Hello! We are snowed in and were under a blizzard warning last night! The news is reporting 16 inches of snow but in some areas around our house it has blown to make 3 foot drifts. They closed Brian's office yesterday and he couldn't make it in today so he has been working from home. I think it will be a while before we can dig out. Luckily the boys and I did a whole day of errands on Monday to stock up before the snow came. It will be a few days before I can do my 5am runs outside again! I can't wait for them to clear our streets! Speaking of running.....I just have to share a quick note about how much Brian is helping out with my marathon training. He watches the boys while I go for my long runs every Sunday.....which can take a long time depending on how many miles I am up to. This was an easy week so it was only 10, but last week was 12 and next week will be 14. He also activated a GPS system on my cell phone so that I can track my miles, my pace, and a map of my course. On top of that, he got me a new smaller IPOD to carry with me when I run.....(pink for Valentine's Day!) Not to mention the time he spends downloading all the songs for me:):) Anyway.....there is no way I could ever get this training in with out his help so I thought I would brag a little bit about how great he has been.
The boys also learned a new trick this week. They started walking behind their hippo push toy. They push it across the room and then wait for you to turn it around so they can go again. I can't believe how active they are getting! They are both pulling up to a standing position at the window ledge and on all their toys....now if they could just figure out how to get down with out bumping anything!!! They still climb all over each other and don't like to be separated. I try to spread out their toys to give them some room to play, but they always end up back in a corner together pulling at the same toy. The video is of them playing together at the window and riding their hippo toy. As you can see we are having a lot of fun being snowed in!

Playroom Fun
Here are a couple video clips taken this morning while the boys played together in the playroom. In baby news....Logan is getting 3 new teeth which makes 8 total! He is also pulling up and chewing on everything:) Michael is becoming more and more mischievous. He has been giving us these looks when he is up to no good. He can make some pretty funny faces. He is also pulling up on everything but not getting any new teeth at the moment. They are starting to learn the word NO. They will stop what they are doing but keep watching til you look away so they can go back to whatever they were doing to get in trouble. It's neat to watch them try to be sneaky together.
(double click on the video to see the whole screen...Logan got cut off a little bit in the smaller version here)
My big news is that I am training for the Flying Pigs Marathon (I'll run a marathon when pigs fly) which is coming up this May. Provided that I can keep up with the demanding training schedule and not get any injuries I hope to be running the full marathon. If all else fails, I can always drop down to the half since they run both on the same day. We will see....it hasn't been easy to run in this bitter cold weather. Three days a week I run at 5am before Brian goes to work and weekends are for the long runs. Only a few more months of training to go and hopefully it will get above freezing soon! We had about 7 inches of snow yesterday and these are some pictures of the boys looking out the window trying to figure out what all that white stuff is:):)

Two heads are better than one!
These are the some of photos that were taken of the boys last week. Logan was not too sure about the girl taking the pictures. He is usually very easy going and will go to anyone. Michael on the other hand ,who is usually very serious and takes a few minutes to warm up to strangers, was all smiles. We ended up being able to get some good smiles from Logan after giving him lots of squeaky toys and rattles:):)
